C7 [Family Celebrations]

My family is very close even though we do not live near eachother.  We always get together on holidays.  We celebrate Easter, Thanksgiving, and also Christmas.  These events are always held at my great grandmas house.  There is always lots and lots of good food.  My favorite is Thanksgiving because there is a lot of food and pies.  I usually have a piece of every pie ;).  I also enjoy these family get togethers because I get to see my family which I do not get to see often.  Unlike the rest of my family who all live within an hour of eachother, I live three and a half hours away.  So, it is nice to be able to see everyone as much as I can.  Challenge7

C7 [War Celebrations]

We do have celebrations to acknowledge the men and women who have risked or even given their lives for our country.  In the 11th month on the 11th day on the 11th hour, we have a school assembly to honor those men and women who were killed in the tragic accident of the Twin Towers.  We usually have former war veterans come in and shoot the guns, we say the Pledge of Allegiance, and usually the National Anthem is played in the background.  I think people shouuld be very proud of the men and women who have faught for our country.  With out them, all of our lives would probably be different.  Even if you do not know anyone who has risked their lives for us in war, you should still say thank you to them.  Challenge7

C7 [Earth Day]

Like Australia, our Earth Day also fell on Good Friday.  Our school did not really discuss Earth Day this year, but in the past we have.  Although we didn’t talk about it, our school is always helping the environment.  Every Tuesday morning, the 7th grade homerooms go around the school and collect the recycling.  After it is collected we take it outside and put it in the dumpster.  My family also helps the Earth by recycling.  We recycle paper, plastic bottles, and also cans.  It may not seem like a lot but every little thing is making the Earth a better place.  Challenge7

Internet Safety

Internet safety is very important.  It can be threatening to you, your family, and your friends.  When joining a new website, you should be careful on how much and what information you give out.  On Facebook, I only gave out my e-mail and obviously my name.  I did not want to give out my address, phone number, or city.  People could easily find out where you live and attempt to harm you or your family in any way.  People should think about what information they are possibly putting out on the internet before they actually do it. My Widgets

I have many Widgets and additional items on my sidebar.  When choosing them, I thought of what would be most helpful to me and other people.  Some of the most important ones I thought were the Recent Posts, Categories, My Pages, and also the Translation Widget.  I hope that while choosing my Widgets, I chose ones that people find helpful to them while visiting my Blog! Review Time!

I have learned a lot since the beginning of this blogging challenge.  Most is very important, while some topics aren’t as important to me as they are to others.  I have learned…

  • Creative Commons license
  • Giving attributions to original photographer of picture
  • Adding images to posts the correct way
  • Taking images and putting them into videos
  • Using Animoto
  • Global activities
  • Translation
  • Widgets
  • Using blogs
  • Digital footprints
  • Making a poll
  • Seeing my visitors from around the world

And much more! Challenge6

Persuasive Post [School Uniforms]

I believe that school uniforms should not be required.  We are often taught to not force someone to do something they don’t want to.  The school is basically forcing someone to wear a uniform when they want to dress how they want.  Students should be allowed to wear what they want.  Some people express themselves by what they wear.  Some people might be comfortable in one thing, while another person doesn’t feel right in that.  Ultimately, it is the parents decision if they want their kids to go to a school where uniforms are required.
